Watercolour Dreams

I love the soft soothing feel of watercolors. Though the colours are mellow, the kaleidoscope of blues, reds and yellows create a cheery backdrop thats wonderful for a summer wedding. It's a great theme to work some DIY magic, enlist the help of friends and family. You will be surprised at the masterpieces that you can create.

Industrial Cool ... Getting the basics right

Finding the right venue may be the hardest part of the process, but once you've nailed it, everything else just falls into place easily. Dress up the tables with simple flower centerpieces and utilize sheer fabric to balance the heaviness of the bricks and metals. If the venue offers tables with great character, do skip the table linens, and go with translucent table runners. Bits and pieces of decor strewn round the venue are all you need. You will want to keep the overall look raw and a little unrefined.

Industrial Cool ... It's in the details

It's in the little details scattered into the decor that really makes your wedding stand out. Think light bulbs as seating card holders, chalk boards displaying your menu, and metal buckets and wooden crates holding wedding favors.

Dress it ... bridesmaid #2: Industrial Cool

Let your bridesmaid choose from a soothing palette of slate grey, pale grey and taupe. Keep the style of the dresses similar, it could be pleating of the skirt or ruching of the bodice or length of the dress. This will create a more coherent look among the girls but still maintain that individuality for each of them.

Industrial Cool ... Statement backdrop

I absolutely adore the brick wall. It creates a big statement, is part of your chosen venue and makes for a great backdrop for photos.

Dress it ... bridesmaid: Industrial Cool

The moody hue of this dark grey dress is so perfect for the theme. The ruffles offset the masculinity of the dark grey, creating a balance that is just right.

Industrial Cool ... Party Setup

This look works best when the furnishings available are slightly mismatched. Mix wooden chairs with worn out metal ones, and throw in a few benches for that bit of quirkiness. Fairy lights and hanging pendant lights are simple lighting options, but you can add visual impact with a stunning chandelier or hanging glass tea light holders. If your venue has mostly white walls or floors, it will be fun to incorporate vibrant flower centerpieces. If luck is on your side and you find a venue complete with brick walls and raw concrete floors, neutral or white centerpieces will provide a bright and airy contrast.
What I really love about this look is that there's no uniformity, everything is just a tad mismatch. So just go ahead, let loose and be creative.
